The programs at Augusta West Dance Studio are designed to meet the needs of all students, recreational through pre-professional. Our teaching philosophy promotes learning in a positive environment with lots of individual attention. AWDS's personal approach to teaching dance helps each student reach their highest individual potential and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Classes are taught with a highly motivational approach, encouraging each student to aspire towards their own personal goals in a manner which celebrates the individual and promotes self-esteem and positive body image. Studying dance provides great physical benefits including good posture, strength and excellent muscle toning. In addition to providing excellent dance instruction, our
expert faculty takes pride in teaching children the skills of focusing and commitment as well as the importance of discipline and respect of self and others, valuable skills which will stay with our students for life.
Augusta West Dance Studio offers a variety of classes for children of all ages, from Toddlers through High School. Please see our
Class Description to find out which classes would be of most interest to your child. In association with the Center for Dance and Body, we also offer adult classes.
At Augusta West Dance Studio, we strongly believe in performance as a vehicle to enhance learning and promote a positive self-image. All AWDS students ages Pre-School through High School have the opportunity to perform in our Holiday Spectacular and our Spring Recital. These performances are held in a theatrical setting complete with costumes, scenery and lighting. All our students love performing, and the most frequently asked question after a performance is "When is the next show?". Not all kids are natural performers. Some go on stage with great ease, while others are a bit shy. Thankfully, the nurturing environment at AWDS provides a safe atmosphere for all students to develop the self-confidence to go on stage and showcase their progress for family and friends. Words cannot express the joy felt by parents and faculty members during our performances, as we watch each student shine in their own unique way.
