The faculty at Augusta West Dance Studio is composed of a
caring staff of professional dancers with extensive teaching
experience. Our combined performing credits include
engagements with regionally and internationally acclaimed
dance companies as well as Broadway musicals, film and
television. As teachers, our common goal is to create a
positive classroom environment, helping students realize
their potential in an encouraging and creative manner. Our
small class sizes enable teachers to give each child the
personal attention needed to better guide them in realizing
individual goals.

many dance professionals. Her education
includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College and a Master of Fine Arts from Florida State University. She

Cindy was Augusta West’s first student to attend the Governor’s Honors Program
in Dance in 1981 and this year was honored to serve again as a judge for the
G.H.P. State Finalists in Dance. In addition to teacher her studio classes, she
is also one o our Day Care instructors, and is the Ballet director for the
Performing Companies. As Artistic Director, Cindy is responsible for all the
companies travel arrangements for Regional and National Dance workshops, much of
the studio choreography, and directs the Christmas production “It’s The Night
Before Christmas”. This year she also enjoyed choreographing the Augusta Mall’s
“Back-to-School” fashion show, Lincolnton County High School’s production of
“Guys and Dolls”, and Hephzibah High School’s Show Choir. Recently, Cindy won
the “Best Choreography” Award from On Tour Dance Challenge. Cindy is the wife of Charles Folger, Sr. and the proud
mother of Charles, Jr., Thomas, and Shelby.
Cindy believes that by using the classical Ballet method, amateur as well
as professional dancers can better their technique to achieve their personal
goals. Part of this is achieved by "hands on" personal placement, an integral
element in her teaching technique. Cindy works closely with each student,
recognizing not just the importance of dance, but the building of
self-confidence. In her beginning ballet class she emphasizes, with control and
measured tempo, the proper placement and authentic port de bras. Intermediate
and Advanced classes continue the classical Ballet method with ever increasing
demand.
